Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
- Cynodon dactylon, Zea mays - chlorotic streaking.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Toya
propinqua; Delphacidae. Virus not transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants.
Ecology and control
Studies reported by Lockhart et al. (1985).
Geographical
distribution
Spreads in France, Iran, Jordan, Morocco, Spain, and
Tunisia.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.

Particle morphology
Virions rhabdo- or
bullet-shaped; enveloped; usually straight; with a clear modal length; of 240
nm (in sap), or 280 nm (in thin sections); 72 nm wide (in sap), or 80 nm wide
(in thin sections). Axial canal obvious.
Cytopathology
Virions found in leaves and roots; in the
perinuclear space.
Taxonomy and

Virus(es) with serologically unrelated virions
Maize mosaic, cereal chlorotic mottle, maize sterile stunt, barley
yellow striate mosaic and festuca leaf streak viruses.
